Profile John Lisman
John Lisman received a Law Degree and a Master degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the Utrecht University in 1988 and 1985. Since then, John combined his skills as a pharmaceutical scientist and as a lawyer.
John has worked for the Netherlands' Ministry of Health and the Medicines Evaluation Board ("College ter beoordeling van geneesmiddelen"), both as a legal counsel and policy advisor. John's experience is very international. John has been involved in the establishment of EMACOLEX, the group of regulatory agencies' legal experts, and in the training of officials in the new Member States of the EU. Nationally, John is acknowledged as one of the key experts in the field of pharmaceutical law and is invited regularly to give presentations and lectures.
Over the years, John has been publishing regularly. One of his key publications is a monograph on Pharmaceutical Law for the Dutch Association of Health Law ("Vereniging voor gezondheidsrecht") in 2006. John is one of the founders and has been a member of the board of the Dutch association of Pharma and Law ("Vereniging Farma en Recht"). Since 2016, John has been honorary member of this scientific asociation. In the Drug Information Association (DIA) John has founded the Legal Affairs Special Interest Area Community.
Furthermore, John is on the Editiorial Board of JGR (Jurisprudence Pharmaceutical Law).
John has been trained as an Attorney at Law at NautaDutilh N.V. and founded Lisman Legal Life science B.V. in 2010. He advises multinational pharmaceutical and biotech companies in regulatory matters and litigates pricing and reimbursement authorities for his clients. From 1 December 2024 John left the bar and continued his work as legal consultant.
